The hat is very comfortable, and it doesn't feel bulky at all. The padding is complete, and there is almost NO gap in between pads because I think that it's just one continuous layer of foam. There isn't much bounce factor because it's just a layer of foam inside the fabric, although, it does dull the pain of a hit, quite significantly. I always wear a hat when I play, and now it's nice to have a little padding! Thanks Empire!
