as many people here are just flaming the ion simply because they most likely have another gun and are biased against smart parts.... i have the ion in freak green... im not going to praise it or flame it.... your paying well under most other gun prices and these people expect this thing to shoot like a damn angel.... no gun is perfect ... but with the ion you are given many upgrade options.... some guy recommended a mini... yea good luck if you want to shoot stock for a while...ion is not amazing stock but IS decent enough for tournament paintball with a few minor upgrades, and that wont even cost too much... if you want a good gun for a good price then go with the ion.... you will not be disappointed

i dont like this gun. it is slo, chops and is made of cheap plastic. i know a ton of people love the ion. it is ok for a begiiner and afirst gun. but never a competition level marker. to make this thig any good you have to spend over a hundred dollars on upgrades like.. barel, bolt, asa, trigger, a diferent board, feedneck, and a new regulator. i dont own one but i have seen people with them. i would only recomend this gun as a first gunner or a beginer player. i would go with a pmr for a little more money and then a dp fusion for a little more than a pmr.

Ion guns are great guns. I personally have an Ion and it works wonders on the field. I fell little to no kickback and I dont tare from holding the gun. Ions are light weight and overall a great gun. If I were you I would highly consider getting an Ion. Even if the Ion you wish to purchase is a little out of your price range you should still get it. In the long run this gun will pay for itself. I have been using Ion markers for 15 yrs and havent had a problem yet. If I were you I would highly consider buying an Ion gun for your next paint ball package

Smart Parts ION |

This is a great dependable marker that needs very little maintainence and will shoot most types of paint. Its a great starter gun, which is light and accurate.
However with the factory settings, the marker will only shoot 12 bps not the 17 as listed. As with most spoolers its hard to tune the FPS down below 260fps, which may be required by a indoor field.
For 130 dollars more you can step up to actual tourney markers however, such as the Mini Invert or the Proto Rail, both having legal settings for PSP and NNPL and both will shoot over 15bps with stock parts. You also might look at the Smart Parts Epiphany as it is almost the same price as the ION and comes with better accessories.
If money is limited this is the one of the best choices that you can make, much better than any marker that you might pick up at a walmart.

First of all ions are terrible it takes about a good 500 dollars to make this gun shoot good. i had an ion for about 2 years till i finally realized that it just cant compete with the mid and high end guns that are bein produced now. and anyone who tries to tell you that ions are great sorry but they are wrong they are a cheap beginner guns and if you want a step up from a spyder. honestly i really dont like this gun i got it a long time agho whenever they first came out and were a decent gun and smart parts made them cheaper and cheaper and now they are the standard beginner gun now but i gotta say if you are gonna get an ion the standard ion is the way to go no need to buy a new version that still shoots 17 bps and just has a new feedneck or body
