I am the ASL of Fear Legion Paintball Team and as a commander I would outfit a entire battalion with these things! They are accurate, fast, light, and reliable. You can hook up a Virtue board and a Freak Barrel and they will give the Ego a run for its money! It is the lowest maintainence gun I have owned or used. Just clear the barrel and wipe down the bolt and you're good to go. They also come in our team color, red. I'm trying to get our woodsball and speedball team outfitted with them. I recommend this gun to everyone unless you can afford anything above 500 bucks. Reccomended Upgrades: Freak Barrel Shock Tech Feedneck New ASA if you can afford one, a virtue board Firebolt (optional, but does improve air effeciency) Even without the upgrades, its still an impressive gun for the price

When I was young and ions first came out, I really wanted to get one since they started at just over $300. Last year I finally picked one up off of ebay for pretty cheap to see if it was as good as I hoped it would be. It came with a board so it shot pretty fast, but wouldn't be able to keep up with other speedball guns. For the price, this gun would be worth buying for weekend play or small upgrades, but if you want to play in a tourney, you should put out a little more money to get a higher end gun.

These markers have few good things about them. They shoot pretty well - they have little kick and are quiet, and they have a very low profile. But there are too many things I have a problem with. These markers take forever to take apart, have a ton of moving parts with the spool valve system in uses, are horribly inefficient, they come out of the factory at an insanely high velocity (so if you get one, turn the regs down so you don't blow up your solenoid), the stock feed neck stinks, you need to buy a BOB (bolt-out-back) body to more easily get to the internals and there is a pitiful shootdown. Basically, I struggle to call this a high-end gun. If you are looking for something much more reliable and easy to deal with, get some sort of poppet marker.

This gun is a good starter gun and for this price it is also very reasonable. The Ion is also one of the most customizable guns with many different upgrades for every part you can think of. With the right upgrades, this gun can perform as well as any other marker on the market today. This gun is also very reliable and requires only minor maintenance. However, when you do need to clean it, it is a hassle to open up the entire body.
