Description Technical Specs

The Platinum Series Tippmann 98 Custom paintball gun, with 8 updated features to put you ahead of the game. Tippmann's new 98 Custom Platinum Series is now easier to upgrade, modify and maintain. There is also a new Quick Thread Flatline Barrel, which attaches as easily as any other barrel to save players significant time and effort. The new Platinum Series maintains the core features of the original 98 Custom including, ACT (Anti Chop Technology), all aluminum die cast receiver, and a quick-release feeder elbow. It's fully compatible for CO2, compressed air, or nitrogen.

  • Split receiver design - provides easier access to internal components for simplified installation of accessories and upgrades
  • Easy to remove power tube - self sealing/locking gas line makes cleaning and maintaining your marker quick and easy
  • Full Depth Pockets for ASA - eliminates the need to loosen the ASA bolts when dissassembling the marker
  • Secure Front Site Spring and Trigger Pins - Easier to service and reassemble
  • Matte Finish - Durable matte finish on ASA and barrel reduces reflective glare
  • Picatinny Rails - makes adding carry handles, scopes, or sites a snap
  • Vertical Front grip - redesigned front vertical grip for improved stability and added texture for a better feel
  • Redesigned Sling Mount End Cap - allows easy attachment of a variety of different style slings
  • ACT (Anti Chop Technology) is a patent pending design to help eliminate ball chopping and ensure consistent performance. Using a new technology that has the front and rear bolt working independently of each other, ACT virtually eliminates ball chopping and improves ball accuracy with less barrel cleaning. And unlike other anti chop systems, this system maintains ball velocity shot after shot and does not have to be re-cocked if the anti chop technology had to be engaged.

  • 8 1/2 inch Quick Thread stone honed high performance barrel
  • Fully customizable to enhance performance
  • All aluminum die cast receiver

Great gun for those who don't need all the extras July 4, 2015

This is a reliable mechanical marker.  It's really not that heavy as some people seem to think.  Its actually lighter than most of the mil-sim guns out there.  The ACT works amazing and I have yet to chop a ball after several cases of paint.  Is it loud?.. A little but not nearly as loud as an A5.

This gun is for the guys who want something that doesn't need much for upkeep and will work no matter what happens to it.  You don't need to upgrade it as the more features you try to add the more things that can go wrong.  If you want to add a barrel I usually recommend nothing bigger than a 14" as past that it becomes more and more difficult to operate in close quarters.  If you want to run a remote line to keep some weight off the gun just grab a stock .

The other great thing about this gun is if you decide one day you really want to go to an electronic full auto marker its nice to have this guy as a back-up for when your new gun breaks down.

Pros: durable, easy to maintain, simple, pretty accurate, with a good barrel

Cons: on the heavy side, kinda loud, not worth $140, barrel is trash

If you know that you are really going to get into paintball then just save up for a nicer electric gun that has all the firing modes, and will last you as you get more and more into paintball

Its tippmann; nothing more, nothing less. November 29, 2013

Its built like a tank,  but you can do better. Also I have a normal 98 and this one with ACT but I can't tell the difference.

For a first Gun, I'd suggest looking at a Tippmann A5 or BT-4 combat slice.

pretty decent! September 8, 2013

This marker is great. Well...my marker is great. I have an older model of the c98, before ACT and Platinum. And in all honesty, this is a very reliable, very durable marker made buy a very reliable and trusted company who practically defined paintball.

The pros: very durable, very sturdy. Little to no Maintenance required. I went a whole year without cleaning my marker and it never failed.

The cons: out of the box its pretty loud, and its a pig on air.

This is NOT a speedball marker, without heavy and often times custom upgrading. This is a marker designed to be reliable and cheap. It may be a rental gun, but I like it. That won't stop me from getting an x7, but I know I can trust the c98. Very rugged, unlike the fragile and flasyh fast shooters of spedball.

If you can trust your marker, you know you picked the one. In the end the marker is only as good as the person weilding it, and 2-3 well placed shots acheive the same results as 100+ balls shot in a general area.
