I bought this before i bought an Apex Barrel. Yeah, it feels great shooting further than other people, but your stuck at that range. If you plan to do close quarters combat, this thing is not for you. Its also very picky on the type of paint it can take. It is also more difficult to install than a regular threaded barrels. IF you want a more versatile barrel, try the Apex Barrel by BT.

Good, but picky on paint |

The Flatline barrel is a good option to get some extended range out of your Model 98. It definitely does what it advertises. It extends your range quite a bit, but the Flatline seems to be rather picky with what paint you use. Once you find a good paint to barrel match, it can be great. Just make sure to keep it clean. Another option, which I think is a better option than the Flatline is the Apex tip from BT.

I think this barrel is a bit overrated and way overpriced. It's supposed to dramatically increase distance and accuracy. It might help with distance but with that greater distance comes WAY decreased accuracy. Yea it may be able to shoot an extra 100', but it will be a foot or more off target. There are barrels that are much cheaper that work way better on the 98.

Tippmann 98 Flatline Barrel |

Adds quite a bit of range to your shots. Balls appear to "float" & fly slower but that is an illusion. The added range is great.
The problem with the barrel is that it is very picky about what paint you put it through it due to the added pressure which the backspin puts on the ball. Marballizer seems to work the best but I still get a lot of breaks.
The barrel is also susceptible to cold weather conditions. I cannot use the flatline when it is cold out or it will break paint like crazy.
I think the newer flatlines have somewhat remedied this by adding a coating to the inside of the barrel.

Where do I start. My friend uses this barrel and it is amazing. It is super accurate and will shoot farther than most barrels I have seen. It is also amazingly quiet. Compared to most other barrels I have heard, including mine, this barrel is super quiet. I recommend this barrel to anyone with a Tippman.
